The company discloses this figure once a year, in its Form 10-K. It counts full-time employees only, so contractors and consultants sit outside it.

The international line moved the other way in 2025. US-based staff fell from 1,755 to 1,612 while employees outside the US rose from 449 to 501, the only one of the two figures to grow.
Third-party Dropbox employee statistics
Revelio Labs estimates headcount from public employment records rather than company disclosures, so its numbers are not directly comparable with the 10-K count. Revelio tracked 2,168 Dropbox employees in March 2026, up from a low of 2,123 in the fourth quarter of 2025.
| Period | Tracked employees | Year-over-year change |
|---|---|---|
| Q4 2023 | 2,615 | -285 |
| Q4 2024 | 2,245 | -370 |
| Q4 2025 | 2,123 | -122 |

The ratio is roughly one sales and marketing worker for every two engineers, which fits a business that sells largely through self-serve subscriptions. Stripe’s department breakdown and LinkedIn’s tracked workforce come from the same tracker and offer a comparison point.
| Department | Tracked employees | Share of workforce |
|---|---|---|

Dropbox Layoff Statistics: The October 2024 Reduction
Dropbox announced on October 30, 2024 that it would cut approximately 20% of its global workforce, or 528 people. CEO Drew Houston cited softening demand in the core file business and excess layers of management.
Affected staff received sixteen weeks of pay plus one additional week for each completed year of tenure. US employees were eligible for up to six months of COBRA coverage, and Canada-based employees for a one-month healthcare extension. An earlier round in April 2023 cut 500 roles. Amazon’s corporate reductions ran on a much larger scale over a similar stretch.
| Restructuring item (USD) | Fiscal 2024 | Fiscal 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Workforce reduction expense | 47.2million | 3.7 million |
| Cash payments related to the reduction | 52.1million | 13.2 million |

Dropbox Hiring Trends and Remote Work
Revelio counted 358 active Dropbox job postings in 2026, a 15.0% decline from 548 in 2025. New postings per month cooled to 274 in 2026 from 1,038 in 2023.
Dropbox has run a Virtual First model since October 2020. Chief People Officer Melanie Rosenwasser told Fortune in June 2025 that internal data showed about 70% of job applicants cite the model as a reason for their interest, and that the company had recorded its lowest attrition and highest offer acceptance rates since the switch. She put the workforce at 2,200 at the time.
Rosenwasser did not release the underlying acceptance or attrition rates, so those two claims describe direction rather than size. Broader context sits in US telework rate data and in research on home-based work output.

Dropbox has not disclosed a headcount figure for any date in 2026; the next one is due in its fiscal 2026 Form 10-K. Companies with different labour mixes land in very different places on staff-to-revenue ratios, as the TikTok workforce figures show.
